Overview

Experience the breathtaking landscape of the Turnagain Arm on a 6-hour tour with an informative guide. Ride along the scenic Seward Parkway to the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Beluga Point, Bird Point and Portage Valley, stopping for photo ops and wildlife observation. Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a large nature preserve where injured animals are rehabilitated. Continue down the Turnagain Arm, then travel up into the Chugach Mountains for another great vantage point on the Turnagain Arm. Includes round-trip transportation from Anchorage.

What to Expect

Start your day with pickup in Anchorage.

Head towards the Portage Valley as your guide shares informative commentary on the wildlife and history of Turnagain Arm and Chugach National Forest. Stop to look for wildlife such as Eagles and Moose, and snap photos at the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Beluga Point and Bird Point. All stops provide great views of the narrow Turnagain Arm waterway, which connects to the Gulf of Alaska and the Cook Inlet.

At the entrance to Portage Valley, visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a wildlife reserve that rehabilitates orphaned and injured wild animals from the Chugach National Forest region, including caribou, elk, moose, musk ox, deer, bears and bison — some of Alaska's biggest land animals. See the animals and birds of prey during your time at the center.

Lunch is available for purchase at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Lunch is not included.

Later, ascend the road that climbs into the Chugach Mountains where you get for sweeping views of the Turnagain Arm.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:** *EASY

Guests should be able to walk short distances on uneven ground. Trails surfaces vary from paved to uneven natural terrain. Tour participants must be able to walk a short distance and be able to get in/out of the tour vehicle with minimal assistance. We strongly recommend that guests requiring assistance be accompanied by a companion who is capable of, and totally responsible for, providing assistance. Neither Planet Earth Adventures nor our suppliers may physically lift or assist guests onto transportation vehicles or otherwise.

There is a slight possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.

SAFETY INFORMATION:

We take safety seriously and we hope that you do as well. Because of Alaska's unpredictable weather, this tour could be cancelled due to unsafe road conditions or adverse weather. If this is the case, you will be refunded 100%. Please be aware that cancellation can take place on the day of the tour.

PICK UP LOCATIONS:

During the peak summer season we pick up at the Egan Convention Center. On certain occasions we may pick up at local Anchorage area hotels based on availability. Please note that We only pick up we DO NOT pick up at B&B's; private homes or businesses. If this is your case, you must contact us to make other pick up arrangements.

YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION:

You MUST provide a good contact telephone (preferably a cell number) while you are in Alaska. A landline or home number does not help us in the event that we need to call you. We are not responsible for missed tours because we are unable to reach you.

CHANGES IN HOTEL LOCATION:

You MUST supply hotel pick up location at time of booking. If you change hotels, you MUST notify us of this change by calling us at the number provided. We are not responsible for missed tours because we cannot find you.

MEALS & INCLUSIONS:

Lunch is NOT included on your tour. Your guide may offer lunch stop provided that the entire group is wanting to make a lunch stop. We provide complimentary light snacks and water. You may bring your own lunch onboard the vehicle.

CANCELLATIONS:

If you need to cancel your tour, please read **Cancellation Policy**.
