About

Our 26-acre Southern California Sanctuary is located on a beautiful hacienda ranch in Acton, just 45 minutes from Hollywood.

Each of our rescued cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and other farm animals has a special story. You'll hear tales of struggles and survival which give us insight into the realities farm animals face in the modern food system. Animals who began their lives abused and neglected now spend their days digging in the dirt, basking in the sun, and napping in the straw.

Guests are encouraged to view the [Power of Sanctuary] (https://www.farmsanctuary.org/the-power-of-sanctuary) video and to browse our website to learn more about our mission.

Planning Your Visit

Latecomers** will miss part of or lose their spot on the tour. **Arrive 15 minutes early to check in.

Please note that the tour path is not paved.** The road through the shelter area is largely composed of compacted dirt and gravel. The path may be slippery or dusty at times with short segments of the path having mild inclines and declines.

We want to make sure all our visitors have a safe and comfortable visit. For more information on potential accommodations (including Adopt a Farm Animal visits), please email [email protected] two weeks in advance.

Policies

To ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and animal residents, we are following the CDC guidelines for heat risk and will cancel tours on days with a weather forecast of 90° or higher. For summer tours, please come prepared with a water bottle, hat, sunglasses, or sunblock.

No-shows are non-refundable.** If you cannot attend your tour, you must notify us at [email protected] **at least 24 hours in advance** to be rebooked or refunded.

Any non-refundable payment will be a general donation to support Farm Sanctuary's rescue, education, and advocacy efforts. This gift will be tax-deductible.

Guests will receive a full refund if a tour gets cancelled due to severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Companion and ADA animals are not allowed on the shelter grounds at any time.

Before you go

We look forward to seeing you! Get ready for your upcoming experience.

Where to Meet:

The Sanctuary is marked with Farm Sanctuary signs.

After entering the gate, make a left into the guest parking area and proceed to the courtyard where you will see a check-in sign.

What to Bring:

Check the weather and come wearing weather-appropriate clothing. Comfortable, closed-toe footwear is advisable! If rain is in the forecast, remember to wear boots and bring an umbrella, rain jacket, or poncho. If it has rained in the past week, we recommend waterproof boots, as the sanctuary can get muddy.

The sanctuary has limited shade. Please remember to pack sunscreen, hats, and a water bottle.

Many of our animals love being in photos so don’t forget your smartphones and cameras!

Planning Your Visit

Before your arrival, each guest must sign the Liability Waiver, see link in green field above (including minors).** If booking for others, remember to share the Liability Waiver with everyone in your party in advance.

Tours start promptly at the designated times.** Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes before your tour to check-in and secure a spot for your guided visit. Late guests may miss the opportunity to visit some of our resident animals or may lose their spot on the tour.

In case of cancellation due to inclement weather,** the Sanctuary Experience team will contact guests the morning of their tour.

Please note that the tour path is not paved.** The road through the shelter area is used by farm equipment and is largely composed of compacted dirt and gravel. The tour path includes hardened surfaces, as well as rocky, grassy, and/or uneven terrains. The path may be slippery or dusty at times with short segments of the path having mild inclines and declines.

Please also note that there is limited shade and few areas to sit or rest while on the tour.

For guest safety, wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers cannot enter the cow and pig pastures. If you need specific accommodations, please contact us prior to the tour.

Need additional accommodations?** We want to make sure all our visitors have a meaningful and safe experience and are comfortable during a visit to our Sanctuaries! Therefore, we encourage individuals with disabilities to contact us at least two weeks in advance of their visit to set up arrangements for any necessary accommodations. For more information and to make accommodations requests, please contact us.

For the Safety of the Animals

Avian influenza is easily transmitted on shoes and even tires. If you have visited another sanctuary, farm, or location with chickens, turkeys, or ducks in the last 48-72 hours prior to your visit, we ask that inform us, so that we can provide you and our residence with additional safety precautions.

Companion animals are not allowed on guided tours or shelter grounds at any time. Please refer to the FAQ on our website for more information on our companion animal policy.

Service animals are not permitted in certain areas of the sanctuary. Please contact us in advance to make arrangements for your visit.
