Check-in details
Pick up & Drop off occurs at the Captain Cook pickup location on 5th Ave. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to 1:30pm departure time to ensure expeditious and timely departure. Your driver guide will pull up in our marked van, please confirm your booking upon entering van.
Disclaimers
- Pack clothing that is weather appropriate for the day. The Wildlife Conservation Center is mainly outside, and you are encouraged to walk through the sanctuary to view animals. There is also an outdoor viewing deck onboard the M/V Ptarmigan. It rains often in the Portage Valley, so it is recommended to bring rain gear. It may be nice in Anchorage, but we enter into a different weather system about 30 miles south of the city!
- Food and beverages are sold separately onboard the M/V Ptarmigan.
- Restrooms are available at both the Wildlife Conservation Center and at Portage Glacier Cruises site.
- Traffic incidences on the Seward highway happen occasionally. While we cannot control traffic, we will do our best to safely get you to the cruise for its' last departure for the day at 4:30pm. In the case of a delay due to traffic, we may reroute to the cruise portion of the trip and then stop into the Wildlife Conservation Center afterwards.
- Inclement weather can happen quickly in the Portage Valley. In the case that we need to cancel the cruise due to unsafe weather conditions, if you booked through our website, we will work to provide a partial refund, and still bring you to the Wildlife Conservation Center experience. In the case that we know that we will have to cancel earlier than when your tour departs, our sales team will contact you to offer you a refund or reschedule to a different time.
