About

Our personalized, how-to demonstrations will quickly have you panning like a pro, all while sharing some local humor and history.

The Gold Panning adventure takes place at our panning site, conveniently located on our property adjacent to Clear Creek. The site is equipped with rustic water troughs set up under a log structure, which is covered by a tarp for protection from wind and rain.

Rain or shine, our tarp-covered log structure ensures a comfortable and dry experience.

Depending on the salmon run, we can often spot salmon in the creek.

While we cannot predict the exact amount of gold or gems you will find, we ensure that every bag of our pay dirt contains flakes of gold and other semi-precious stones. This guarantees that everyone has the opportunity to discover and take home their very own Alaskan gold and gems!

Before you go

The tour begins at the Turning Heads Kennel site. Please arrive at the specific time stated on your reservation (Turning Heads Kenel on 31722 Herman Leirer Road, Seward, AK 99664). We kindly request that you do not arrive earlier or later than your scheduled check-in time.

From there, you will be shuttled to the Adventure Sixty North office for the gold panning portion of the experience.

Parking (if driving to our office)

Cars and small vehicles: Please use the main parking area directly in front of our office.

RVs & Buses: Drive past the small bridge and turn right into the large lot next to Exit Glacier Lodge. (Do not use the front lot on Bronze Avenue).

Shuttle Pick-Up

If you have arranged for shuttle service from the Seward city area, your pick-up will be approximately 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled check-in time. We will contact you the day before your reservation to confirm your estimated pick-up time. Please be ready at that time.

What to Bring

  • Pants and close-toed shoes or boots.
  • Rain jacket (It's a nice gear when petting dirty dogs, even if it isn’t raining).
  • We don’t recommend wearing anything you don’t want to get a little messy.
  • Your camera!
