90 minutes - minimum age: 8; max weight 235 lbs. Riding horses is a physically demanding activity and has inherent risks involved. Riders must be able to walk a mile without any breaks.

- Arrive 30 minutes prior to your ride. We cannot guarantee your ride if you are not checked into the stables 30 minutes prior to the start time of the ride as we do have many rides daily!
- We recommend bringing your own water as saddle bags will be provided
- Restrooms are available at the stables. There is no need to check in at the welcome center. You can arrive at the stables and get checked in there.
How to determine what level rider you are:
- Beginner - You have never been on a horse or have only ridden less than 10 times in the past few years
- Intermediate - You have continuously taken horseback riding lessons for at least a year
- Advanced - You can comfortably ride any age and level of horse and are able to safely control a horse at any gait

The horseback trail ride takes you to the area where Georgia O’Keeffe found her inspiration, completed several paintings, and owned a home. The ride begins with an introduction and preview of examples of her work followed by a trail ride into the restricted area of Ghost Ranch where you see through your own eyes the actual locations of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings. The shining red and yellow cliffs of the Piedra Lumbre, the black trails of waterfalls against canyon walls, and her beloved Pedernal Mountain, interwoven with stories of her fifty years at Ghost Ranch. This ride is for all levels of experience.
NOTICE
We reserve the right to cancel any ride at any time due to weather. If a ride is canceled, riders may recieve a refund or rebook the ride to a different day.
If you are LATE for a ride, we cannot refund or rebook. Your account will still be charged the full amount of the ride.
Snacks and beverages are available at the Trading Post Cafe.

IMPORTANT ARRIVAL INFO:
Check-in at the Stables at Ghost Ranch 30 minutes prior to your ride start time. You will be greeted by wrangler staff with information about restroom availability.
If you arrive to your ride LATE, you will not be allowed a refund or rebooking. The Stables does run on a very strict schedule.

Location
Ghost Ranch is located 65 miles northwest of Santa Fe (forty miles beyond Española) on U.S. 84 between mile markers 224 and 225. Use 1708 NM Highway 84, Abiquiu, NM 87510 as the address to find us on https://maps.google.com and when using your GPS. If traveling north on 84, stay on Highway 84 until you pass the Abiquiu Reservoir/Lake. If traveling south on Highway 84, if you reach Abiquiu Lake, you have gone too far. If you are driving north from Española, the gate is on your right. Plan an hour and a half drive from Santa Fe.
- **GPS** - The coordinates to our front gate are 36.330685 latitude and -106.45915 longitude.
From Santa Fe:
- Take US 84/285 North to Española (approx. 25 miles).
- Upon descending the hill into Española, get into the LEFT lane. Very shortly after entering Española city limits, you will see signs for ’84 N. TRUCK ROUTE’, ·
- Turn LEFT onto the 84 N. Truck Route, and move into the RIGHT lane.
- Proceed to LOS ALAMOS HIGHWAY and turn RIGHT and get into the LEFT lane.
- Turn LEFT at the next intersection with the traffic lights, this again will be 84 North.
- Ghost Ranch is 14 miles northwest of Abiquiu.
- Continue on 84 North until you pass Abiquiu Lake on the left of Highway 84 between mile markers 224 and 225. Due to traffic and possible construction, etc., allow at least 1 and 1/2 hours travel time.
From Taos:
- Take State Road 68 south to Española (approximately 35 miles).
- In Española follow signs for US 84 North.
- Take a right turn to go over any of the three (3) bridges over the Rio Grande, following the signs toward Abiquiu or Chama.
- Again, look for Ghost Ranch, on the right off US 84 North, 14 miles northwest of Abiquiu between mile markers 224 and 225.
- Due to traffic and possible construction, etc., allow at least 2 hours travel time.
From Chama
- Take US 84 south towards Abiquiu. The entrance to Ghost Ranch is on your left off US 84 between mile markers 225 and 224. Allow at least 1 hour and half travel time.
