About
Embark on the unforgettable Tofino Bear Watching Tour, departing from the tranquil harbor of Tofino and venturing into the calm, sheltered intertidal waters of Clayoquot Sound. Here, amidst the breathtaking coastal scenery, you'll have the chance to observe black bears in their natural habitat.
As the tide recedes, black bears emerge from the forest and descend upon the shoreline in search of their favorite delicacies, such as rock crabs and fish. From a safe distance, you'll have the opportunity to watch the black bears forage for food, sometimes accompanied by a sow teaching her new cubs the ways of survival.
Your experienced guide will provide fascinating insights into the behaviour of black bears and other wildlife species you may encounter, including bald eagles, seals, harbour porpoises, blue herons, and river otters. It's a journey rich in biodiversity and educational opportunities.
The Tofino Bear Watching Tour is suitable for all nature enthusiasts, especially those who prefer calm waters for sailing. Keep in mind that departure times vary daily according to the low tide, ensuring optimal viewing conditions and safety for all participants.
With the black bears emerging from hibernation in April and remaining in the Tofino area until October, there's ample time to experience the wonders of bear watching amidst the stunning landscapes of Clayoquot Sound.
The Tofino Bear Watching Tour is recommended for everyone, and especially those sailors who prefer flat and calm waters. **Please note, the daily departure times vary with the low tide.
