About

  • Learn about the history of Old Louisville from your guide
  • See much more than if you explore on your own
  • A central meeting point makes for a seamless start
  • Take in the Victorian architecture while you walk about 1.5 miles

The Old Louisville historic preservation district is home to hundreds of impressive Victorian mansions that trace back to wealthy families in the 1800s. This daytime walking tour includes the same stories featured on our popular evening ghost tours, and is perfect for those who love a combination of ghosts and history. A trained guide will help you uncover the eerie past of the neighborhood while sharing entertaining legends and lore. This tour is entirely outdoors and includes stops outside several points of interest including the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, the Witches' Tree, Central Park, and the Filson Historical Society.

Before you go

This WALKING tour is entirely outdoors and does not enter historic homes, most of which are private residences in Old Louisville. If you use a cane or walker, this tour is not for you. (It is wheelchair accessible, however!) Meet your guide at the corner of South Fourth Street and West Ormsby Avenue in Old Louisville five minutes before your start time and check in with your last name; no need to print out tickets. We do not meet in a building or office, but rather on the corner in front of the brown "Filson Historical Society" sign near the bus stop.

Generally, there is plenty of free, street parking, and well-behaved pets are welcome. This is a non-refundable, rain-or-shine tour, so bring an umbrella if it drizzles and treat your tickets as you would theater or concert tickets. (If we have to cancel in the case of inclement weather, however, you will be notified beforehand and given the opportunity to reschedule or get a full refund. We will also be happy to reschedule with advance notice and depending on availability.)

REMEMBER: LOUISVILLE IS IN THE EASTERN TIME ZONE!
